Mirik

A valley of serenity

Among the long list of tourist destinations in North Bengal, one such not so famous picturesque destination is Mirik. Situated closer to Darjeeling and on the bank of a vast lake, Mirik is a small hill station that has an abundance of experiences to offer. From the misty mountains, beautiful lakes, not so populated Mirik refreshes the mind and the soul with its charismatic atmosphere.

A soothing walk across the vast lake (an artificial lake created in the 1970s) with a view of Mt. Kanchenjunga as a backdrop, is a soothing experience. The lush green forest of oak, chestnut, maple, tea gardens, altogether makes Mirik the ultimate destination for bird watching.

Cuisine

A range of delicacies can be tasted in Mirik, whereas the local delicacies do have an influence of Bengali culture. If you are in Mirik don't forget to taste the specialties which include Thukpa, Hakka noodles, momos, and of course Tibetan dishes.

Shopping

Mirik is not known for shopping, still there are few shops in the valley which sells some interesting items. The Krishnanagar area will be a favourable shopping joint. Handcrafted items and pottery items with Tibetan designs, Nepali curios, and not to forget Darjeeling Tea are few of the shopping items found here in Mirik..
