PIOUS UTTARAKHAND

Uttarakhand is one of the most pristine destinations in the entirety of India. Flanked into two divisions namely the Kumaon & Garhwal, the state is home to the famous Char Dham, which attracts thousands of pilgrims on a daily basis who flock down to seek blessings. The holy life-giving rivers of Ganga and Yamuna originate here from Gangotri & Yamunotri. The state borders the mountainous kingdoms of Nepal & Tibet and enjoys its own fair share of mountains like the Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Satopanth, Kedarnath, Panchachuli & Thalaysagar peaks.

These magnificent ranges serve as excellent locations that beckon all the trekkers worldwide. Beneath these peaks lie the rolling pastures, that are more suited for the tourists fond of leisure. The valleys are dotted with ashrams that hold yoga sessions amidst the serene meadows. Uttarakhand was visited by the famous band Beatles, who came to this haven for its much-craved serenity and seclusion. Uttrakhand is also famous for its top choice hill stations like Mussoorie.

Uttarakhand History

History of Sunderban

The word Uttarakhand derives its origin from two Sanskrit syllables "Uttara" & "Khanda" meaning North & Land respectively. Owing to its geographical location in the Indian peninsula, it is the Land in the North. The region saw the advent of many rulers, from the Pauravas, the Kushanas, Kunindas, Guptas, Gurjara-Pratihara, Palas, Raikas, Chands, Parmars, Katyuris, and the British. Famous for being the land of saints and sages, Uttrakhand was where the great sage Vyasa wrote the world famous epic Mahabharata. Another crucial social movement that gained momentum in Uttarakhand is the Chipko Movement where the local women hugged the trees to save them from deforestation.
